Start Playing

Not everyone wants to go into detail about starting up a game of poker. Most people just like to pick up the chips and go. That is why we are here to provide you with how to run a quick game. It will take merely minutes to read and you will be ready to play immediately. Here goes...

Chip Values/Colors
White: 25 cents
Blue: 50 cents
Red: $1 dollar
Black $2 dollars
Of course you can swap colors, you don't have to use these ones. This is just how we play our home games.

Chip Count
12 White, 8 Blue, 4 red, 2 black
This should equal $15.00; once again, you can choose as many of each color as you'd like.

Blinds
Blinds can increase by a time limit or by elimination; we usually do it by time limit to make things more fair. Here is a table using time limits...
Small Blind Big Blind Time
25c 50c Begin
50c $1 20 min passed
75c $1.50 40 min passed
$1 $2 1 hour passed
$1.50 $3 1 hour 20 min passed
$2 $4 1 hour 40 min passed
$2.50 $5 2 hours passed
$3 $6 2 hours 20 min passed
$4 $8 2 hours 40 min passed
$5 $10 3 hours passed

If your game takes any longer than this, raise blinds as felt necessary. Also, when you reach heads up, you can either continue the blinds or freeze them where they are; we like to freeze them. You do not want the game to turn into a battle of winning blinds, so do not raise them to high in which it isn't poker any longer.
