Betting Help

Pre-Flop

A player at any time can risk all of his chips on a given hand no matter how many chips he may be holding. He cannot win more chips than he has in his arsenal. For Example if a player has 12.00 in chips remaining with 4 people left at the table he can only win a maximum of 12.00 off the other 3 players which totals to be 36.00 plus blinds. If a player goes all in for 12.00 and is reraised all in 28.00 he only has the chance to win 12.00 of that money the other 16.00 goes into what is called a SIDE POT (Is a pot that contains more chips than the player all in has put forth into the hand) those chips are then seperated into two piles (one containing the player that is all in, the other contaning the chips of the remaining players involved. The betting then continues as stated before until the end of the hand where the mainpot is awareded to the player who wins that pot either by having the best hand at the end of it or winning it by betting enough to force the other players out. The side pot is then awarded to the player with the best hand who is eligible for the side pot (Must have money in sidepot).

When a player cannot cover the Big Blind that does not mean he cannot participate in the hand nor does it mean the blinds are lowered to his total. If a player gets involved in a hand and has 2.00 in chips left and the blinds are 2/4.00, he would put his chips in the pot for 2.00 and can only win 2.00 off the other players who enter the pot. The blinds do not get lowered to 2.00 because the all in does not reach the designated 4.00 minimum to play the hand.

After the Flop

At the table below, four players are in the action, blinds are .25/.50, the minimum bet is .50, and it is a No Limit table.
    As Shown Above
  • Seat 3 (Left of the big blind) has the option to check or bet.
  • Seat 4 has the option to check or bet unless Seat 3 has already bet; now Seat 4 would have the option to Fold, Call, or Raise 2x the initial bet to All-In.
  • Seat 1 has the option to check or bet unless Seat 4 has already bet/raised; now Seat 1 would have the option to Fold, Call, or Raise 2x the initial bet/raise to All-In.
  • Seat 2 has the option to check or bet unless Seat 1 has already bet/raised; now Seat 2 would have the option to Fold, Call, or Raise 2x the initial bet/raise to All-In.
The play will continue like this after The Flop, after The Turn, and after The River until a player wins the hand. See our rules page for more details on The Flop, The Turn, and The River.
